  • I lived with shoulder pain for many years because I was once told by an orthopedic surgeon "You need a shoulder replacement, but if you have one you're going to be disappointed." It was discouraging to hear that but it was in fact absolutely accurate and it was also about twenty years ago. Back then the surgery was more invasive and the result
was underwhelming. As the years went by my pain increased and my range of motion became very limited. I was using my left shoulder more often for reaching and carrying things. I would soon discover, when it comes to joint replacement in this day and age, things have changed.

A little more than a year ago, while being treated for a knee problem I asked the doctor treating me if he could recommend the best shoulder guy around. Without hesitation he said, "You want to see Dr. Acevedo. You want to see a doctor that does this everyday. Dr. Acevedo is the best! " I took that advice and set up a consultation.

Dr Acevedo explained the latest surgical techniques he also mentioned that some of the materials used now were developed as little as four years ago. I learned the procedure is less invasive and the materials are designed to last longer. I was feeling optimistic and happy about not having the surgery twenty years ago. Dr. Acevedo then delivered the best news. This procedure would be outpatient, it would begin around 8am and I could expect to be home around noon. That was all I needed to hear, I scheduled my surgery for a total right shoulder arthroplasty .

It's been a little more than a year since my surgery and my outcome has exceeded my anticipations in every possible way. The recovery time wasn't very long and the result has been life changing. I can do activities that were out of the question for decades. I have a fully functioning right shoulder! I want to emphasize that I followed Dr. Acevedo's guidelines 100 percent prior to and after the surgery, I firmly believe this improved my outcome.

Obviously, I can't recommend Dr. Acevedo enough, his confidence and self assurance helped me move beyond my hesitation that I had. His surgical skills are extraordinary. I made the right choice and the results will always be gratifying!

  • Very grateful to Dr Acevedo and the entire staff. I lived the past 10-14 years with left shoulder pain, had seen many dr’s and they all recommended rehab which I had attended to little benefit. Finally after some nudging I felt surgery was worth the risks considering my pain level. I feel today like I am back to who I was pre shoulder injury. I am
Grateful and want it to be known publicly how well my surgery went. Thank you.

  • Dr. Acevedo was professional, extremely knowledgeable and friendly too which is a rare find for an orthopedic surgeon!! He took excellent care of my completely torn rotator cuff and decompressed the nerve on the upper right arm too. Tough recovery but still very highly recommend for any shoulder issues or surgeries you may need!!

  • There are 3 "A's" in medicine. In order of importance, they are: availability, affability, and ability. I am a retired physician visiting from NJ. I needed to see a local doctor for postoperative care. When I called LA Orthopedics, I was immediately impressed with Sol's concern for my request, and he set up an appointment with Dr. Acevedo for the next day. Having "passed" the availability part of a good doctor, Dr. Acevedo's affability was clear the moment he walked into the exam room; and I hit a home run when Dr. Acevedo meticulously and skillfully took care of my surgical wound. I highly recommend Dr. Acevedo, who demonstrates all 3 "A's".

  • Dr Acevedo performed a rotator cuff surgery in 2021 and he the surgery was a total success. He made sure he told me exactly what was going to happen before, during and post op and nothing was a surprised. It took me a full year to heal 100% bucks which is exactly what he had said. Unfortunately he will be leaving Kaiser and will not perform another surgery i have coming up. To whoever ends up with Dr Acevedo as their surgeon, i can assure you just like many other PA’s at Kaiser and nurses have told me, you are in good hands and he is the best of the best and i can attest to that! Thank you Dr Acevedo for taking care of me throughout my and your time at Kaiser. Best of luck to you and to your potential patients consider yourself lucky to have him!!!!

  • I have been going to Dr Acevedo since 2016 when I had an unfortunate accident and shattered my elbow. Dr Acevedo was able to take me to surgery the very next day. He was not able to repair the elbow so this led to a complete elbow replacement. I can only say good things about him. There is no way I can go to another Doctor. In fact when I broke my shoulder this Easter 2022 I traveled from Bakersfield Kaiser to Panorama City Kaiser. It isn't enough to say I like him, but more importantly he is the most knowledgeable Ortho Doctor in California. He has a great bedside manner and talks to you in layman terms so that you can understand the procedures. If you are like me and prone to broken bones do yourself a favor...get the best. Love, love him.
